I can’t believe I’m doing this…

August 27th, 2008 at 6:53 pm

I’m writing this entry in MSIE. Gonna have to bitch-slap myself later on.

I left the computer at the store today, gonna be interesting to see if they find out what the problem is.

I am not only using MSIE, I am also on Vista, making it even worse. And on top of that, I am on a laptop. I hate the keyboard on laptops. Difficult to type. Oh well.

Today I finally touched the iPhone. I need one.

Backup

August 26th, 2008 at 3:46 pm

Today I will backup everything important on my computer, then I’ll format it, then hand it in for troubleshooting.

I decided to format it, since I’ve been meaning to do that for a while anyway. The troubleshooting will probably go faster too, if they don’t have to be disturbed by all my configurations.

So, what is the problem?

Well, I bought this computer in February, from a friend. The graphics card crashed after a week, and I gave it back, requesting a new one. He sent it back to where he bought it from, and said he’d get back to me when he had received a new one.

Then my computer started acting weird. Internet kept disconnecting when downloading at higher speeds than 1 MB/sec. I figured the router was the problem, but I have used 3 different computers with the same router, and they have all worked like a charm.

Another issue I have is that when listening to music through headphones, there is an ambient noise that is really annoying when thinking about it. I did come up with a fix for it though; when touching my finger on the chassis, the ambient noise vanishes. Is that a good fix?
The same goes when having a mic connected to the computer. Ambient noise until I touch the chassis.

I’ve had these problems ever since I bought the computer, and that was almost 7 months ago.
A while back, I got to hear the dude I bought it from has moved to USA to study. He refuses to reply on my e-mails, and he still owes me the graphics card. I don’t want to take legal actions, since it’s still a friend (or is he?).

So now I’ll hand this in for troubleshooting. I even don’t care of the cost; I need a working computer.

Chicken

August 25th, 2008 at 12:32 pm

Today I looked a bit like a gray chicken.

A package had arrived with a book I ordered. I decided to take the big envelope and rip it up to aid folding it before putting it in the bin. I inserted both my forearms into the envelope and separated them. Unbeknown to me, the isolation was feathers/dust/stuff, and it all just exploded over me and the floor.

My mother said something that could be translated to “GOSH!”. Then I asked if she could give me the vacuum cleaner, so I could suck myself off. It really came out wrong and she laughed. :D

Erik is not 2pac

August 23rd, 2008 at 5:34 pm

I checked Google Analytics, to see which keywords people had used to find my blog when googling.

  1. virtual erik
  2. virtualerik
  3. www.vitrualerik.com
  4. “stephen lapping”
    That is Jordan’s father. :o
  5. 2pac fack the gilr
    WTF?!
  6. eric jansson blog

Mighty confused. I wonder why my site even turned up for the fifth search. :erik:

Avatars!

August 23rd, 2008 at 3:34 am

Hey, I added the avatars function for comments. This will possibly make it easier to see who wrote what.

If you want an avatar (or gravatar as it’s called in this case), go to: gravatar.com

You simply have to register your e-mail, click the activation link, and upload your photo. :D

I tried having them below the name like most would, but it didn’t seem fitting with my design. So hopefully this will work out now. Complaints are welcome.

Hedgehog

August 22nd, 2008 at 8:48 pm

I went to the store to buy some healthy food for my new diet (read: candy), when I heard a sneeze-like sound from a bush. Then I saw it was a hedgehog, and I tried taking a picture. Epic fail though, since it had the same color as the ground. >.<

Anyway, after having been to the store, I noticed the hedgehog had moved to another place, where he was more visible.

He seemed rather pissed off first, since he rolled up like a ball. Maybe he was just scared of me. :(

Mind the image quality, but my cellphone isn’t the leading camera phone. Click the images for bigger size.

Smilies

August 22nd, 2008 at 5:51 pm

Hopefully this will be my last post about smilies in a while. I pay them far too much attention. Then again, it’s the details that make things look good.

Below the comment field, you’ll see a link: “Smilies“. It leads to a page with a collection of the smilies available, along with the commands. I will add some new ones when I am bored.

Delia’s Gone

August 21st, 2008 at 9:29 pm

Not sure if anyone noticed, but I like Johnny Cash. Today I somehow got “Delia’s Gone” set on repeat, and the iPod was deep down in my pocket, therefore I never bother changing song. I kept listening to the song at the bus home from swimming, and at one point in the song, I burst out laughing. Either I am easily amused, or I just misinterpret stuff too easily.

I am sure the writer didn’t mean anything bad, but:

So if you woman’s devilish, you can let her run
Or you can bring her down and do her like Delia got done

Mr. Cash did many covers, and I believe this is one. “Delia’s Gone” is available in many flavors, so I suspect it may be an old folk song with no decided lyrics, just a red thread throughout.

Google gave me many results, so don’t quote me when I say the Johnny Cash version was written by Karl Silbersdorf and Dick Toops. Feel free to give me any more info about this song.

Here’s the music video, by the way:
